Crafted without glaze or ornamentation, these Tsuchi Ceramic Cups from celebrated artist K. Omori are shaped from two types of distinctive Japanese clay: kurotsuchi is the black-and-grey variety, and akatsuchi is the red. The drinkware's slightly rough surface is beautifully textured, both in terms of how it feels in the hand and how its speckled shades contrast with one another - a result of the ceramicist embracing the organic nature of his materials to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
About K. Omori
Perhaps it's his background in environmental design, but ceramicist K. Omori seems to be perfectly in tune with the earth. The way he emphasizes the rough-hewn textures other craftsmen reject shows how highly he values the natural characteristics of his materials - the way raw clay feels in your hand, the dappled color of an organic element. It's little wonder that his work continues to be shown in exhibitions across Japan.
