Forged by hand with hammer and tongs, the Tangetsu Mage Iron Frying Pan pairs a rugged construction with refined sensibilities to create all-purpose cookware equally suited to a home stovetop or a roaring fire. This style features a curved handle with a hanging loop reminiscent of common forging tools, an homage to the ancient blacksmiths whose innovations laid the foundation for modern metalworking techniques. Suitable for all stove types, as well as outdoor cooking.
About Kajikobo Hiromitsu
"This moon is proof of my training," say the blacksmiths of Kajikobo Hiromitsu, a reference to the telltale signs of hammering techniques honed over years of practice - blows that mark the surface like craters on the moon. Perhaps because of their location in Shimane, a region steeped in age-old traditions, each piece they craft is worked using tatara, a type of furnace dating to Japan's Edo period, and finished with nothing more than a hammer and tongs.
